Kenneth Joaquin (b. 1948
Kenneth Joaquin or “Ken” as he prefers to be referred to, is certainly rising in the ranks of well listed and highly sought-after artists. He was born in 1948 in Tulare County, California.
Primarily self-taught, Ken’s love and natural aptitude for the Arts, led him to ‘College of the Sequoias’ and ‘Columbia College’, where he studied both painting and sculpture, while exhibiting his work and picking up various awards along the way.
Working out of his small studio in San Diego, California, he continues to create exceptional abstract paintings that reflect his talent for composition and use of color. Ken’s style of painting has been compared to that of Rufino Tamayo and other visionaries of abstract expressionism, however he has clearly developed a style of painting uniquely his own.
Ken is a member of the San Diego Art Institute where he regularly exhibits his paintings and at Colin Fisher Studios, located in greater Palm Springs, California.
"Faced with a blank canvas, the act of creating a work that both satisfies me and challenges the viewer is almost an abstraction in itself...a finished piece has directions in it not always apparent to me while applying the paint...in truth, I leave the emotion in control” Kenneth Joaquin
Ken’s abstract paintings have often been characterized as elegant and thought-provoking. His works are in a number of private collections throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia.
